However, the most fundamental thing that a hotel is supposed to provide (more important than a posh setting and a valet) is warm shelter. I would have liked to have given this hotel a good rating, as the setting and service are worth recommending. Staying at The Equinox was like visiting an unwinterized cottage in a blizzard, and paying a lot to do it. The Equinox Resort is the place to be for a couple’s weekend, no matter the season. Gift The Equinox Resort for Dads, Grads or any special occasion A relaxing spa day, a round of golf, dinner at Chop House, craft brews in Marsh Tavern, cocktails from Falcon Bar or even an overnight adventure. To give my complaint some context-I grew up with even colder winters. The Equinox Golf Resort & Spa Experience. We raised the issue with management, and were given a nonsense explanation. There was also a persistently bad odour in many areas of the first floor-most likely the result of a frozen waste pipe. A cold shower after a storm during a blizzard, in a hotel where you have to walk outside to get to and from the spa, pool and well-appointed fitness centre, is an unwelcome shock to the system. (I can think of many solutions, and I don't even work there.) Another annoyance was the complete lack of warm water in the showers at the spa. The Golf Club at Equinox has earned accolades from Golf Digest and Golfweek. Get pampered with a relaxing massage at the onsite spa, which has its own elegant pool (reduced capacity). They should either solve the problem, or they shouldn't rent out those rooms. Take in the fresh air on the hiking trails that run throughout the resort’s 1,300 wooded acres. The hotel has had many, many years to figure out that the first floor rooms are punishingly cold during very cold weather. Cold weather in Vermont in the winter is not a surprise. The problem wasn't just in our room-as the hallways on the first floor were all freezing. After a second freezing night, we were finally moved to a much warmer room on an upper floor. We asked for the heating to be addressed after the first night, and they tried one remedy to reduce the draft. At night, any body parts that weren't covered by several blankets froze. The floor was so cold that we had to wear boots in the room. The wind essentially blew through the walls and windows, right into the room, overpowering what passed for a heating system. It was bitterly cold out when we were there (-15 degrees F or colder). The problem is that the infrastructure of the hotel cannot handle the cold. The hotel is in a beautiful setting picture-perfect Vermont.

The service at this hotel is excellent-very courteous and friendly.
